Add a PDF to knitCompanion
PDFs From Any Source or App
- Use a browser, email, downloads, file browser, or any other app to download the file.
- Add the PDF to kC.
- iOS: It often looks like a box with an arrow pointing out. In some apps it will be in a submenu. Show Me
- Mac:
- From the knitCompanion home page select the File/Open menu.
- From finder, 2-finger click (aka right click) a PDF and select Open With/knitCompanion.
- Android: It is often in the menu with 3 dots. knitCompanion will appear in both Send file… and Open with… Below are some examples.
- Show Me Chrome
- Show Me email, downloads, and files app
- Show Me Google Drive
- If your device always opens a PDF with the same app, and will not let you choose which app to use, then clear your device’s default app setting. See how.
Ravelry Downloads
To download from Ravelry, your pattern must be a Ravelry Download that you have access to. Learn More
- Tap Ravelry at the top Show Me
- Log in to Ravelry (if prompted).
- Tap any Library item to import the PDF.
- Tap Local to see the PDF and tap the local PDF to view it. Show Me
PDFs in Your Dropbox
- Tap Dropbox at the top. Show Me
- Log in to Dropbox (if prompted).
- Navigate your Dropbox and tap any PDF to import it.
If you do not see any PDFs, be sure to tap PDFs on the right side first. Show Me - Tap Local to see the PDF and tap the local PDF to view it. Show Me
Patterns that Aren’t a PDF
When you have a pattern that is a webpage, paper, or any format that is not a PDF, follow these steps to add it to your knitCompanion.
